Sabotage (2014) – Review

If you’re one of those people who think Arnold Schwarzenegger peaked with Kindergarten Cop, well, Sabotage will probably punch you in the face harder than a winter wind in Skellefteå. David Ayer’s the guy at the wheel here (you know, the fella behind End of Watch and Suicide Squad, ja, den killen). So, you get what you’d expect: guns, sweat, and enough macho vibes to make any gymbro in Solna jealous.

About actors, Arnold leads the charge like a stubborn älg on the E4. He’s got that classic, grumpy-uncle energy, kinda like when my pappa tried to fix the Volvo and shouted at everyone. Sam Worthington pops up too, with a weird little moustache that honestly made me question every facial hair decision of my own. You’ll see Olivia Williams, Terrence Howard… and it’s a real “who’s-who” of hard-looking people glaring at each other.

Plotwise, it’s… well, there’s drugs, betrayals, and more bullets flying than at midsummer mosquito season in Värmland. Honestly, I got a bit lost somewhere between the shootouts and angry people muttering. But that almost added to the fun. Feels more like a sweaty fever dream than a cohesive story.

Here’s a thing though: Sabotage kinda made me remember that time when my school bike got stolen out of nowhere. Total betrayal, man! The cops didn’t care, my mates suspected everyone, and old Mrs. Andersson next door gave me the evil eye for weeks. The film’s about trust, really – or the lack of it – and the way suspicion makes people go completely bananas. Just like in my little Fagersta melodrama.

Maybe it’s not a “wow” film for deep thinkers, but sometimes you just want to watch a tough bunch trip over their own paranoia. Grab a bag of OLW chips, crank up the volume, and see who gets stabbed in the back first. Maybe not a new classic, but it sure ain’t boring.
